Junior infants saw many changes in the caterpillars over the last two weeks.
The caterpillars have been through all of the stages in their life cycle now. Ross's, Claire's and Ailish's classes learned that they started life as eggs and arrived in the classrooms as caterpillars. They have now changed from caterpillars, to cocoons, to butterflies. It was very exciting to watch!
Over the last two weeks the caterpillars spun their cocoons and were put into the butterfly habitat nets to get ready for the butterfly stage.
Junior infants kept a close eye on the cocoons, and this week most of the butterflies came out of their cocoons.
They were fed oranges and water with orange juice in it.
After a few days it was time to open the butterfly habitat nets in the garden and say goodbye to the butterflies.
